CREDIT APPROVAL INFORMATION

The Credit department is responsible for evaluating the credit rating of all new accounts and monitoring existing accounts.

New Accounts

A new account is an agency or advertiser that has no prior billing or payment experience with About.com. All new accounts are required to complete a credit application. Credit personnel will conduct a background investigation, which normally requires 24 to 48 hours.

Terms of Sale

Accounts that are approved for open credit terms are sold due upon receipt, meaning the invoice is due for payment thirty days from the invoice date. The invoice dates will coincide with the end of the individual advertiser campaign dates. About.com does not offer cash discounts. Accounts that are not approved for open credit terms or accounts that have not submitted a credit application, will be required to pay in advance.

Suspended Credit terms and Credit limits

If an account is seriously delinquent, it may be necessary for the Credit department to suspend or revoke credit terms. In some situations, Credit personnel may find it necessary to set a credit limit. If credit terms are suspended or revoked, or if new business exceeds an account’s credit limit, the account will be required to pay in advance.

Deferred Terms

About.com does not offer deferred billing terms. All invoices are rendered at the date that they are billed. In certain circumstances, the payment due date may be extended for a particular issue, but such circumstances must be approved in advance by either the Controller, Vice-President of Finance or the Chief Financial Officer and the Credit department.
